Reviews
I recently stayed at The Umrao and had a very pleasant experience. The stay was comfortable, the food was excellent, and the overall hospitality was impressive.
The housekeeping staff was highly proactive and ensured everything was taken care of promptly.
A special mention to Mr. Bintu, who was looking after the swimming pool and gym area. He was extremely humble, helpful, and down-to-earth. His friendly attitude and willingness to assist guests made a positive difference to my stay.
Thank you to the entire team for making my visit enjoyable. I would be happy to recommend this hotel to others.
Posting this feedback quite late but I had to do it. We held our Annual Sales Meeting in early April, stayed for a night and conducted meeting in conference room. Rooms were clean and spacious, buffet spread was great and food was delicious. Big cheers to their Chefs and other staff... they super polite, prompt and attentive. This was our second time in this property and their standard of services have gone higher. Loved the experience holding our meeting at this beautiful property.
The Umrao on the Delhi–Gurugram highway is a luxurious retreat that beautifully blends comfort with grandeur. The plush rooms, palatial ambience, and stupendous food make the stay truly memorable. The sprawling property offers ample space for leisurely walks, while the swimming pool adds to the relaxing experience.
It is an ideal venue for family gatherings, weddings, and weekend staycations. A perfect escape from the rush of city life, it offers Delhiites a refreshing change without having to travel too far.
There pool view is super nice where the Spa is located. Aarti and Shyam were amazing in providing their services even in limited time. Rahul at front desk was very good. All staff are friendly and helpful. This place is really nice.
We stayed at The Umrao for two nights, and I want to share a balanced and genuine review based on our experience.
Positives
• Room Cleaning: The only consistently good experience was the room cleaning. The housekeeping staff did a great job and maintained the room very well.
• Food & Restaurant: The food was good, and we had no issues with the restaurant service.
Negatives
Unfortunately, the overall experience was overshadowed by what felt like clear discrimination and preconceived bias, right from the entrance.
From the security guard at the gate, to the guard at the main door, and even at the reception, the way we were spoken to made us feel like outsiders. Almost every person kept questioning us repeatedly:
• “Did you book a room?”
• “Did you pay?”
• “Can you show the bill?”
This continued until we reached the reception, and even there the tone and behaviour were no different.
I was carrying some large luggage, and even the bellboy asked me:
• “Is this for the guest?”
When I told him I am the guest, he still asked:
• “Did you book a room?”
This constant doubt and scrutiny felt extremely uncomfortable and frankly disrespectful.
We have stayed in multiple 5-star hotels across India, and we have never faced this kind of discrimination or negative treatment anywhere else. But at The Umrao, this seemed to be a common attitude.
At this point, it honestly felt like unless you’re carrying branded bags like Gucci or Prada, wearing bikinis or sleeveless designer outfits, they don’t consider you as their “type” of guest. Otherwise, the treatment is more like you’re some random worker or outsider walking in.
The room was good , but when you bath the water flows out into corridor 🤣🤣
Overall
While the rooms and food were fine, the hospitality and attitude of the front-line staff were extremely disappointing. I genuinely hope the management addresses this behaviour, because every guest — regardless of where they come from or what they wear — deserves to be treated with respect.
