WARNING TO EMERGING BRANDS AND SMALL BUSINESSES

***UPDATED 29.05.2026_ Response/reply from Billoomi, they have confirmed they have my funds but would like a hostage release on these to control a narrative. I am sure extortion is going to be looked into the filings with MCA and NCH. Correspondence has been forwarded directly to The Director of MCA. See attached screenshots of the manipulation/extortion attempt.***

ORIGINAL REVIEW SHORTENED
I rarely leave reviews this detailed, but after months of delays, repeated broken promises, and an extremely stressful experience, I feel it is important to document what happened so that other emerging brands can make informed decisions before sending upfront payments.

I engaged Billoomi Fashion Pvt Ltd for garment development and proto sample work for my brand, MELNLEO.

In the beginning, communication appeared positive and professional, and like many other startups, I trusted the process and believed I had found a manufacturing partner that genuinely supported emerging brands.

Unfortunately, my experience became the complete opposite. Over several months, I was repeatedly given confirmed timelines that were continually missed. Every time a deadline approached, another delay followed:
“this weekend” “Wednesday” “tonight” “please bear with us” “one more week”
This became a constant cycle with no actual completed proto samples ever delivered to me within the repeatedly promised timeframes.
What became most frustrating was not simply the delays themselves, but the way communication was handled throughout the process. Delays were rarely communicated proactively before deadlines passed. Instead, timelines would be confirmed confidently, then missed, followed by further reassurances and explanations only after I followed up again.

As an emerging fashion brand, these delays have caused significant operational, financial, and emotional impact. Product development planning stalled, launch timelines became impossible to manage, and months of momentum were lost waiting on repeated assurances that were never met.

After formally escalating the matter, I was suddenly told to connect with a staff member on WhatsApp for “urgent proto approvals.” However, my WhatsApp number had already been included in the signature line of every email sent throughout the entire process for months. At no stage prior was I contacted directly despite repeated claims that approvals were urgently required.

This further damaged my confidence in the professionalism and organisation of the process. I was then advised that labour shortages and broader operational issues had delayed work for multiple buyers.

While I understand businesses can face genuine challenges, this does not excuse repeatedly confirming deadlines that cannot realistically be met, especially when clients are making important business decisions based on those commitments.
What concerns me most is that several recent reviews appear to describe very similar patterns:
• repeated rolling delays
• ongoing “please bear with us” responses
• failure to meet confirmed timelines
• emotional and financial stress placed on small businesses

My experience unfortunately aligns closely with many of those concerns. At this stage, I have:
• documented all communication and timelines
• contacted my bank regarding recovery options relating to the international transfer
• formal complaints lodged to MCA & NCH
I strongly encourage any other businesses experiencing similar unresolved issues to:
• keep all emails and screenshots
• document every promised timeline carefully
• maintain written communication
• seek formal financial and regulatory advice where appropriate

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Billoomi Fashion Pvt Ltd as a reliable development partner for emerging brands seeking dependable communication, structured project management, and realistic production timelines.

Very recommended.
I really enjoyed working with Billoomi. India has its own pace and you have to take it easy… The quality of the sewing is really good and they were able to make me accurate samples and were patient with me and my requests… and I had a lot of requests😅. In short, I highly recommend it. I am satisfied

Strong warning to anyone considering working with Billoomi Fashion.

I paid $383 USD in early December for three samples. It’s now May, and I lost that money and I have nothing to show for it except months of serious stress, over 100 emails, and a company that refuses to take responsibility.

Before payment, they present themselves as highly professional and capable of executing complex garments with prints and embroidery and all, you name it. After payment, everything changes. Delays begin, excuses pile up, and accountability disappears.

I did not provide vague instructions. I sent professionally prepared tech packs and repeatedly gave detailed, specific feedback, far more than what should be required, in addition to Techpacks, I made images with exact measurements written on them, pages and page of exact explanation... Despite all this, they continuously reframed the situation as a “technical limitation” or a “design issue,” shifting blame onto me instead of acknowledging their inability to deliver.

They produced samples (3 made of basic plain cotton) that looked NOTHING like my designs. When I pointed this out, instead of correcting their work, they responded with long emails full of explanations, claiming issues with embroidery, sourcing, or execution, things they should have identified before taking my money! They talked of none of "those issues" before accepting the order.

At every step, they positioned the problem as mine:

“Your tech pack has issues”
“Your design cannot be executed”
“Your expectations changed”

None of this is true. If there were limitations, they had every opportunity to say so upfront. They didn’t. They took the payment and only then began adjusting expectations.

This is the core issue: they are now reframing their failure as a “technical/design mismatch” to justify keeping the money and closing the case.

I even offered a partial loss, letting them keep a portion ($83) for materials, just to end this painful process and get a refund. Instead, I was met with long long emails, more deflection, more blame, and no real solution.

Yes, they are polite. Yes, they respond. But don’t mistake responsiveness for integrity. Their emails are long, well-written, and full of explanations, but ultimately filled with lies such as "we couldn't work on your order because our factory just caught on fire!"

As a small business owner, the financial loss hurts. But the real damage is the time, energy, and emotional toll of dealing with a company that drags you through months of back-and-forth only to walk away without delivering.Their website looks professional, and that’s what convinced me. Don’t make the same mistake.

I have to add, after months of back and forth, they agreed to meet with me over a video conference call to find a resolution, but I decided not to meet with them, to save my sanity, accept my loss, learn my lesson, and move on.

My experience with Billoomi Fashion was disappointing.

I commissioned them for sample development based on clear reference images and a detailed moodboard. The samples provided were fundamentally different from what was agreed (incorrect neckline, fit, proportions, fabric appearance and construction).

Instead of addressing these issues, I was repeatedly asked to provide more images or measurements, even though the core design elements were clearly visible in the original references. Communication involved multiple delays and contradictory explanations.

When I decided to stop the collaboration and requested a refund (or partial refund), this was refused, despite the samples being unusable for my project.

I would strongly advise other brands to be extremely clear on process, responsibilities and refund conditions before engaging.

Update:
After reviewing the sample photos and the overall direction of development, I decided to stop the collaboration, as the samples differed significantly from the agreed references and did not meet the intended design specifications.

During the process, communication involved repeated back-and-forth exchanges without clear alignment, and my proposal to discuss a refund (full or partial) was not directly addressed.

Following this, I was informed that further communication would only continue if I removed this review within a limited timeframe.

I believe that professional resolution and public feedback should remain independent of each other.

Our experience with Billoomi has been extremely disappointing. We ordered several samples over six months ago and never received anything. Despite multiple follow-ups via email and WhatsApp, we got no clear answers or solutions. Every time there was a new excuse, but no actual delivery.

For a company that claims to be professional, this is completely unacceptable. We lost a lot of time and trust in the process. Not recommended – especially for brands that value reliability, communication, and timely delivery.
